- Welch 90th Anniversay Scholarship: Now available in Student Services. To be eligible for the Welch 90th Anniversary Scholarship , you must: i) be graduating from your last year of secondary school with a minimum grade average of 75%; ii) reside in an area served by the Quinte offices of Welch LLP (this also includes ENSS); iii) be accepted into an Ontario university for the Fall/Winter session in a business or commerce program, be planning full-time attendance and be able to provide proof of acceptance into your program no later than July 31st of the year of eligibility. The value is $2500 and applications are available in Student Services. Due July 31st to the address provided.
- Horatio Alger National Vocational and Technical Education Scholarship Program: This program provides financial assistance to students who have financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity. Scholarship criteria also include high school completion by spring of 2019, be enrolled in a 3 year or less or technical degree/certification program in the Fall that will lead to employment, student is under age 30, and Canadian citizenship. Students may download and complete the electronic application using the link below. The first priority deadline will be July 15, 2019. - Scholarship for LGBTQ+ Post-Secondary Students Studying in Ontario: The Bill 7 Award Trust grants scholarships to LGBTQ+ students with demonstrated financila need after accessing available public financial support and who are, or will be, pursuing their first program of post-secondary study at an Ontario educational institution. This year there are fifteen scholarships valued at $3000 each being granted. Full information, as well as the online application, is available by visiting www.bill7award.ca. The deadlien for applicationss is 5:00 pm., Friday, August 2nd, 2019. Please note that the application requires a letter of reference so it is good to get this before the end of the school year.
- 2019 Marie Dressler Foundation Student Bursary Award Program: Attention Arts Students! We are looking for 4 students in Northumberland County High Schools who are continuing education in the performing arts and related fields (music, media arts, etc.) to receive one of 4 x $ 1000 BURSARIES. - OJEN Bursaries 2019: These bursaries are for students pursuing post-secondary (college or university) studies leading to a career in the justice sector. - FREDERICK HENNESSY FOUNDATION AWARD: This very generous award is intended to go to an ENSS recipient that will use this money to further their education at the university or college level. This is a financial need based award with documentation required to illustrate your families financial situation. Applicants must also apply to the Barbara Ann Jarvis Award which is also has a financial need criteria. Applications are available in Student Services and due by Wednesday, May 22 to Student Services.
- The Trinity St. Andrews United Church Clothing Depot Bursary Award: Two awards given to first - time graduating students. Successful candidates should have dedicated to our community, be civic minded and demonstrate an understanding of spiritual tolerance. Final selection will be made by the TSAUC Council. Applications are in Student Services. Due to Student Services by Friday, May 31, 2019.
- The Quinte Chapter of the Professional Engineers of Ontario Scholarships: A scholarship in the amount of $1500 is being awarded by the Quinte Chapter of the Professional Engineers for the school term beginning the fall of 2018. Applications will be accepted until May 3rd, 2019 from any Quinte Chapter area high school graduating student who will be attending an Engineering faculty at an Ontario university. - Rodger Henderson Memorial Scholarship: This $500 scholarship will be awarded to one student in a Northumberland County secondary school. Student applications will have to submit a 400 - 500 word essay as part of their application on the topic of fair trade and / or social justice. Applications are to be submitted directly to the Ten Thousand Villages store in Cobourg no later than May 31st. As a not-for-profit retail store, Ten Thousand Villages works to support artisans in developing countries by paying them a fair wage for their creativity and labour. - Bayer Fund Opportunity Scholarship: This year's program highlights the tie between agriculture and food by offering scholarships to students entering either agriculture or food related studies. Application forms are available in Student Services and are valued at $1500. Completed applications must be post-marked no later than May 31, 2019.
- BEYOND THE BLUE BOX: Beyond the Blue Box wishes to honour 2 graduating students in Northumberland County, pursuing an education in Environment Studies or Developmental Service Worker fields. One applicant will be chosen from each field, and will receive awards in the amount of $1000 each. Application forms are available in Student Services and due by June 3, 2019 to the address provided on the application form (mailed or sent by email).
- CANADIAN FEDERATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN-NORTHUMBERLAND (CUFW-N): Applications are available in Student Services and due to Mr. Vandertoorn in Student Services by Monday, June 3rd , 2019. Awards of $750 are available for female students who have been residents of Northumberland County for at least 2 years and plan to attend a Canadian University or College. Candidates should have an average of 75 % or higher in six University or University / College courses (without repetition of courses.) Candidates must have been accepted by a university or college for the first time for Sept. 2019 at the time applications are submitted to Mr. Vandertoorn in Student Services by June 3rd, 2019. An applicant will be ranked based on her personal essay, academic achievement, community and school involvement and two letters of reference.
- 2019 Annual Colborne Rotary Gordon Hoselton Memorial Bursary Award: A $1000 bursary to be awarded to one student from one of the three high schools for students living in Cramahe Township. The criteria are: must be graduating and going on to full time attendance at a post secondary institution or apprenticeship; must have a principal residence within the Municipality of Cramahe; must demonstrate economic need for bursary funding. Applications are available in Student Services. The completed application must be received in Student Services by Friday, May 24, 2019 to qualify.
- PEARCE-TAIT MEMORIAL AWARD: The criteria for this award are as follows:
- Students graduating with a diploma geared towards college
- Students must be accepted into a recognized post-secondary school for fire suppression/prevention.
- Must be a resident of Hastings or Prince Edward County (includes the city of Quinte West.)
The application is available in Student Services. All documentation must be received by May 17th, 2019 to the address provided to be eligible for the 2019 award.
- 2019 Ted Rogers Scholarship: This is for Canadian youth with government care experience starting their first post-secondary program (university, certificate or diploma at a college, trade school.) You must have experienced (or currently experiencing) a minimum, cumulative total of 12 months in provincial government care before age 18. You must also demonstrate financial need and contributions to the community. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 1. Learn more about the scholarship at cafdn.org/TedRogersScholarship.
- 2019 Indigenous Student Awards Program: This scholarship is intended to support those indigenous students who have at least 2 years remaining in their post-secondary studies. Status Indians, Non-status Indians, Inuit and Metis are welcome to apply. Selected students will receive up to $4000 per academic year for educational and living expenses for 2 to 4 years. RBC awards ten scholarships in two categories for students: 1) Majoring in disciplines related to the financial services industry or 2) Majoring in disciplines unrelated to the financial services industry. - KIN CANADA BURSARIES: Due to Student Services by Thurs., Jan. 31, 2019. $1000 bursaries are awarded annually based on financial need, community / volunteer involvement and knowledge of Kin Canada. Applicants to Kin Canada Bursaries must:
- be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant;
- plan to be a full-time student in the next academic year, at a recognized university, community college, technical institute or other post-secondary institution for advanced learning;
- demonstrate high ideals and qualities of citizenship;
- not have previously received a bursary from the Hal Rogers Endowment fund.
TERRY FOX HUMANITARIAN AWARD: This is open to graduating secondary level students and those studying toward a first university degree or diploma in a Canadian post-secondary institution. TD Scholarships for Community Leadership: Online at "www.td.com/scholarships". The completed application is due Nov. 16, 2018 to the address provided. No applications will be accepted after the deadline regardless of the postmark date (please do not send applications by fax or email, as they will not be considered.) Scholarships are open to students across Canada who have shown exceptional initiative in making a meaningful and lasting difference in their community. While applicants must be capable of entering and successfully completing either university or college, the focus of these scholarships is not primarily on rewarding the highest marks. The key criterion is outstanding community leadership, in balance with the student's academic performance(minimum 75 % average in last full year of completed courses.)
- LORAN Award (for University Bound Student’s): Visit "https://loranscholar.ca/apply” for details and the application form to be done online. Due date is Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2018 for school sponsored applicants (3 students maximum) and Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018 for direct pool applicants (unlimited number) to the address provided online. The award is not based soley on academics. While there is a minimum average to be considered ( 85 % ) based on your past three years of highschool, they are interested in well-rounded candidates who are active in both their communities and their school. ENSS can sponsor 3 applicants whereas other applicants not sponsored need apply through the direct pool process and alternate address provided. - 2019: HORATIO ALGER ONTARIO SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: This scholarship program provides financial assistance to students in Ontario who have financial need ( $ 65 000 or less annual net income per family is preferred ) and have exhibited academic potential, strength of character as well as integrity and perseverance in overcoming diversity. Scholarship criteria also include high school graduation in the spring or summer of 2019; involvement in co-curricular and community activities; commitment to pursue and complete a degree, diploma or certificate at a university or college in Canada; and Canadian citizenship. The scholarships that will be awarded to deserving students each year are valued at $5000. Applications may be submitted online at https://www.horatioalger.ca/en/scholarhips. - Schulich Leader Scholarship: .All Canadian high schools may select one (1) nominee to represent their school. The following criteria must be followed: i) The candidate must be intending to enroll in a program at a minimum of one of the 20 participating Canadian universities in the STEM areas of study (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics); ii) Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada; iii) Each candidate must possess at least two of the following three attributes: a) academic excellence; b) outstanding community, business or entrepreneurial leadership; c) financial need (students who would be applying for financial assistance at university would meet this criterion. The process by which your school selects its Schulich Leader Nominee is entirely up to each school, as long as the student selected meets the criterion above. The Schulich Leader Nominee must then submit a separate online Schulich Leaders application that will be sent directly to the universities they have submitted official applications to. - QUEEN'S MAJOR ADMISSIONS AWARDS (deadline is Dec. 1, 2018): It is expected that applicants will have a cumulative average of 90 % or higher throughout highschool to be competitive for Major Admissions Awards. The Chancellor's requires a school nomination and ENSS may nominate 1 student who is applying to Queen's. The other major admissions awards are based on financial need and some involve place of residence. Students must apply for admission to Queen's through the Ontario Universities' Application centre (OUAC) by no later than November 20 to ensure that you gain access to SOLUS to submit your Major Award Admission application by December 1. - THE TOM TITTEL MEMORIAL AWARD: The Tom Tittel Memorial Award applicant must be a graduating student who is pursuing a post-secondary pathway in the social service area (child care, teacher, social worker etc.). You must have demonstrated outstanding leadership in the school or community. It includes submitting a 250 word overview of activities you have done that are relevant to the social service area. If interested please see Mr. Vandertoorn or Ms. Pemberton in Student Services. The application must be submitted through a google form and it is due by May 23, 2018. The application must be discussed with Student Services for approval.
- VOS Theatre – Ruth Harcort Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship will be awarded to a student from Northumberland County who is continuing their education at a post secondary institution. The Committee will select a candidate who has shown dedication to the arts (theatre, music, fine art) and exemplifies the characteristics that Ruth valued. - Trenton Memorial Hospital Auxilary Bursary: TMH Auxiliary offers 4 annual bursary awards of $1000 each to students from the area serviced by TMH who have been accepted for or will be entering a medically-related post-secondary course. - Northumberland Paramedics Award: This $100 award is given in 2018 to an ENSS student meeting the flowing criteria: i) must be a graduating /graduated student enrolled in full-time studies in paramedicine or a college program in pre-health science with the intention of enrolling in a paramedicine program; ii) must have an average that demonstrates high achievement. - Beatrice Fullerton Scholarship: Awarded annually to a graduated/graduating ENSS student who meet the following criteria: i) must be planning to attend a post-secondary institute: ii) the scholarship is to be used to provide funds to the student to travel abroad to study(defined as outside of Canada). Recipient of the award will be chosen by the school Principal and Area Superintendent of Education, based on the submission of an essay of no more than 250 words describing how their travel will enhance their academic life and education. - Willow Beach Field Naturalists Scholarship- WBFN is pleased to offer a $1000 award annually to a successful applicant from one of Northumberland County’s secondary schools who meets the criteria outlined and whose application is chosen by the Executive Board. The criteria for selection includes: must be a graduating student entering their first year of full-time studies at an accredited Canadian college or university; demonstrated commitment to and involvement in community environmental stewardship; record of participation in volunteer and co-curricular activity at school and in the community; demonstrated capacity for leadership; and a letter(s) of recommendation. - BELLEVILLE CHORAL SOCIETY: This scholarship, valued at $1000, may be awarded to an eligible applicant pursuing a post-secondary school degree in music performance or music education. Applicants must be in the process of applying to a University or College Faculty of Music, or a recognized private post-secondary institution in North America. - BEYOND THE BLUE BOX: Beyond the Blue Box wishes to honour 2 graduating students in Northumberland County, pursuing an education in Environment Studies or Developmental Service Worker fields. One applicant will be chosen from each field, and will receive awards in the amount of $500 each. - Welch 90th Anniversay Scholarship: Now available in Student Services. To be eligible for the Welch 90th Anniversary Scholarship , you must: i) be graduating from your last year of secondary school with a minimum grade average of 75%; ii) reside in an area served by the Quinte offices of Welch LLP (this also includes ENSS); iii) be accepted into an Ontario university for the Fall/Winter session in a business or commerce program, be planning full-time attendance and be able to provide proof of acceptance into your program no later than July 31st of the year of eligibility. The value is $2500 and applications are available in Student Services. Due July 31st to the address provided.
- VOS Theatre – Ruth Harcort Memorial Scholarship - This scholarship will be awarded to a student from Northumberland County who is continuing their education at a post secondary institution. The Committee will select a candidate who has shown dedication to the arts (theatre, music, fine art) and exemplifies the characteristics that Ruth valued. - Willow Beach Field Naturalists Scholarship- WBFN is pleased to offer a $1000 award annually to a successful applicant from one of Northumberland County’s secondary schools who meets the criteria outlined and whose application is chosen by the Executive Board. The criteria for selection includes: must be a graduating student entering their first year of full-time studies at an accredited Canadian college or university; demonstrated commitment to and involvement in community environmental stewardship; record of participation in volunteer and co-curricular activity at school and in the community; demonstrated capacity for leadership; and a letter(s) of recommendation. Deadline: Completed application forms with Letter(s) of Reference must be mailed and received by Sat. June 10, 2017. - THE TOM TITTEL MEMORIAL AWARD: The Tom Tittel Memorial Award applicant must be a graduating student who is pursuing a post-secondary pathway in the social service area (child care, teacher, social worker etc.). The value of the award is $200.00 If interested please submit a 250 word overview of activities you have done that are relevant to the social service area by Monday, May 15 to Ms. Pemberton or Mr. Vandertoorn in Student Services.
- Trenton Memorial Hospital Auxilary Bursary: TMH Auxiliary offers 4 annual bursary awards of $500 each to students from the area serviced by TMH who have been accepted for or will be entering a medically-related post-secondary course. These bursaries are available for students who reside in the area defined as east to Bayside, west to Brighton, north to Frankford and Stirling and south to Carrying Place and Ameliasburg. Applications are now available in Student Services and due back to Mr. Vandertoorn by Monday, Friday, May 26.. A “Guidance Interview Form” will be completed the week of May 29-30th.
- CRAMAHE COMMUNUTY POLICING AWARD: This award is offered to an ENSS student pursuing a policing related program at either university or college (ie. Police Foundations, Criminology, Criminal Justice Studies, etc.) To be eligible you must be a resident of Cramahe Township. Applications are available in Student Services. Due Friday, May 19 to Student Services.
- FREDERICK HENNESSY FOUNDATION AWARD: This very generous award is intended to go to an ENSS recipient that will use this money to further their education at the university or college level. This is a financial need based award with documentation required to illustrate your families financial situation. Applicants must also apply to the Barbara Ann Jarvis Award which is also has a financial need criteria. Applications are available in Student Services and due by Friday, May 19 to Student Services.
- BARBARA ANN JARVIS AWARD: This very generous award is intended to go to an ENSS recipient that will use this money to further their education at the university or college level. This is a financial need based award with a completed OSAP application required to illustrate your families financial situation. Applicants must also apply to the Frederick Hennessy Foundation Award which is also has a financial need criteria. Applications are available in Student Services and due by Friday, May 19 to Student Services.
- THE VINTAGE FILM FESTIVAL COBOURG-PORT HOPE STUDENT AWARDS PROGRAM: Attention Arts Students! We are looking for 4 students in Northumberland County High Schools who are continuing education in THEATRE ARTS, MUSIC, and, especially, in FILM to receive one of 4 x $ 1500 BURSARIES. - Ontario Road Builders Association (ORBA): ORBA is now accepting applications for its Civil Engineering and Civil Engineering Technology Scholarships, each valued at $ 2000.00. The Civil Engineering Scholarship is awarded to a student graduating from an Ontario high school entering the first year of a Civil Engineering program at an Ontario University. The Civil Engineering Technology Scholarship is awarded to a student graduating from an Ontario high school and entering the first year of a Civil Engineering Technology or Technician program at an Ontario College or equivalent. - 2017 Monsanto Fund Opportunity Scholarship Program: Approximately 65 scholarships to deserving high school students across the country entering their first year of post-secondary education in agriculture. Each scholarship is valued at $1500 and will be awarded to students who meet the following criteria: i) Students must be from a family farming operation with plans to enter their first year of post-secondary education in agriculture; ii) Students must have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership capabilities and active involvement in their local community. Completed applications, including an application essay, must be post-marked no later than June 15, 2017. - The Quinte Chapter of the Professional Engineers of Ontario Scholarships: A scholarship in the amount of $1500 is being awarded by the Quinte Chapter of the Professional Engineers for the school term beginning the fall of 2017. Applications will be accepted until May 5 th, 2017 from any Quinte Chapter area high school graduating student who will be attending an Engineering faculty at an Ontario university. - 2017 Annual Colborne Rotary Gordon Hoselton Memorial Bursary Award: A $1000 bursary to be awarded to one student from one of the four high schools for students living in Cramahe Township. The criteria are: must be graduating and going on to full time attendance at a post secondary institution or apprenticeship; must have a principal residence within the municpality of Cramahe; must demonstrate economic need for bursary funding. - CANADIAN FEDERATION OF UNIVERSITY WOMEN-NORTHUMBERLAND (CUFW-N): Applications are available in Student Services and due to Mr. Vandertoorn in Student Services by Monday, June 1, 2017. Awards of $750 are available for female students who have been residents of Northumberland County for at least 2 years and plan to attend a Canadian University or College. Candidates should have an average of 75 % or higher in six University or University / College courses (without repetition of courses.) Candidates must have been accepted by a university or college for the first time for Sept. 2017 at the time applications are submitted to Mr. Vandertoorn in Student Services by June 1, 2017. An applicant will be ranked based on her personal essay, academic achievement, community and school involvement and one teacher and one community service reference.
- UNIVERSITY WOMEN’S CLUB – NORTHUMBERLAND NON-STATUS FIRST NATION, METIS OR INUIT (FNMI) AWARD FOR 2017 - An award of $750 is available for a NON-STATUS FNMI female student who has been a resident of Northumberland County for at least two years. At the time the application is made the candidate must have been accepted by a college or university for the first time for September 2017. Applications are due to Student Services by June 1, 2019. - PEARCE-TAIT MEMORIAL AWARD: The criteria for this award are as follows:
- Students graduating with a diploma geared towards college
- Students must be accepted into a recognized post-secondary school for fire suppression/prevention.
- Must be a resident of Hastings or Prince Edward County.
- The application is available in Student Services. All documentation must be received by May 18th, 2017 to the address provided to be eligible for the 2017 award.
- Attitudes for Education- The Clay Elliott Scholarship Foundation (updated scholarship information is now available on the website "www.attitudesforeducation.ca"
Value: The amount of money awarded is a one-time payment of $2000.00
This scholarship identifies high school students who demonstrate the 'right attitude' and provide them with monetary assistance to attend any full-time course load at an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution (includes college, university, or trade school).
Conditions: Candidates must:
i. Be graduating in the 2016-2017 school year or may be 2015-2016
graduates who are taking a 5th year in high school or who have
taken a gap year (students cannot have attended a
post-secondary program);
ii. Be Canadian citizens;
iii. Be current residents of Northumberland County;
iv. Be attending a high school within Northumberland County.

- KIN CANADA BURSARIES: Due to Student Services by Mon., Feb. 27, 2017. $1000 bursaries are awarded annually based on financial need, community / volunteer involvement and knowledge of Kin Canada. Applicants to Kin Canada Bursaries must:
- be a Canadian citizen or landed immigrant;
- plan to be a full-time student in the next academic year, at a recognized university, community college, technical institute or other post-secondary institution for advanced learning;
- demonstrate high ideals and qualities of citizenship;
- not have previously received a bursary from the Hal Rogers Endowment fund.
- TD Scholarships for Community Leadership: Online at "www.td.com/scholarships". The completed application is due Nov. 18, 2016 to the address provided. No applications will be accepted after the deadline regardless of the postmark date (please do not send applications by fax or email, as they will not be considered.) Scholarships are open to students across Canada who have shown exceptional initiative in making a meaningful and lasting difference in their community. While applicants must be capable of entering and successfully completing either university or college, the focus of these scholarships is not primarily on rewarding the highest marks. The key criterion is outstanding community leadership, in balance with the student's academic performance. Sample application forms are available in Student Services.
- QUEEN'S MAJOR ADMISSIONS AWARDS (deadline is Dec. 1, 2016): It is expected that applicants will have a cumulative average of 90 % or higher throughout highschool to be competitive for Major Admissions Awards. The Chancellor's requires a school nomination and ENSS may nominate 2 students who are applying to Queen's. The other major admissions awards are based on financial need and some involve place of residence. Students must apply for admission to Queen's through the Ontario Universities' Application centre (OUAC) prior to the Major Admission Awards application deadline of December 1, 2016. Please speak to Student Services if you would like to be considered as a school nominee for the Chancellor’s Award.
- Schulich Leader Scholarship: .All Canadian high schools may select one (1) nominee to represent their school. The following criteria must be followed: i) The candidate must be intending to enroll in a program at a minimum of one of the 20 participating Canadian universities in the STEM areas of study (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics); ii) Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada; iii) Each candidate must possess at least two of the following three attributes: a) academic excellence; b) outstanding community, business or entrepreneurial leadership; c) financial need (students who would be applying for financial assistance at university would meet this criterion. The process by which your school selects its Schulich Leader Nominee is entirely up to each school, as long as the student selected meets the criterion above. The Schulich Leader Nominee must then submit a separate online Schulich Leaders application that will be sent directly to the universities they have submitted official applications to. - .2017 University of Toronto National Scholarship Program: Application deadline is Nov. 4, 2016. These scholarships will be awarded to students who demonstrate superior academic performance, original and creative thought, and exceptional achievement in a broad context. Each school is invited to choose one outstanding student on the basis of these criteria. - LORAN Award (for university bound student’s): Visit "https://apply.loranscholar.ca” for details and the application form to be done online. Due date is Oct. 19, 2016 for school sponsored applicants (3 maximum) and Oct. 26, 2016 for direct pool applicants (unlimited number) to the address provided online. The award is not based soley on academics. While there is a minimum average to be considered ( 85 % ) based on your past three years of highschool, they are interested in well-rounded candidates who are active in both their communities and their school. ENSS can sponsor 3 applicants whereas other applicants not sponsored need apply through the direct pool process and alternate address provided. - 2017 HORATIO ALGER ONTARIO SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: This scholarship program provides financial assistance to students in Ontario who have financial need ( $ 65 000 or less annual net income per family is preferred ) and have exhibited academic potential, strength of character as well as integrity and perseverance in overcoming diversity. Scholarship criteria also include high school graduation in the spring or summer of 2017; involvement in co-curricular and community activities; commitment to pursue and complete a degree, diploma or certificate at a university or college in Canada; and Canadian citizenship. The scholarships that will be awarded to deserving students each year are valued at $5000. Applications may be submitted online at https://www.horatioalger.ca/en/scholarhips/. A general scholarship from the NEDWI will be given to a student graduating from high school who is a resident within the NEDWI boundaries. The recipient shall be a graduating student who possess an all rounded achievement comprised of the following: academic, community involvement and leadership, with extra points for 4H experience (referenced). This scholarship shall go towards funding a student enrolling in a program of study in agriculture, veterinarian studies, family studies or women's studies. BURGER KING - SCHOLARS PROGRAM: High school seniors, Burger King employees, their dependent children, spouses or domestic partners can apply to receive up to $50 000 in scholarship awards for the 2016 – 2017 school year! High school seniors must have a cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (about 80 %) to be eligible. The application period opens Oct. 15, 2015 and closes Dec. 15, 2015. Scholarships are open to students across Canada who have shown exceptional initiative in making a meaningful and lasting difference in their community. While applicants must be capable of entering and successfully completing either university or college, the focus of these scholarships is not primarily on rewarding the highest marks. The key criterion is outstanding community leadership, in balance with the student's academic performance. Sample application forms are available in Student Services.
· 2016 HORATIO ALGER ONTARIO SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: This scholarship program provides financial assistance to students in Ontario who have financial need ( $ 55 000 or less annual net income per family is preferred ) and have exhibited academic potential, strength of character as well as integrity and perseverance in overcoming diversity. Scholarship criteria also include high school graduation in the spring or summer of 2016; involvement in co-curricular and community activities; commitment to pursue and complete a degree, diploma or certificate at a university or college in Canada; and Canadian citizenship. The scholarships that will be awarded to deserving students each year are valued at $5000. Applications may be submitted online at www.horatioalger.ca/en/scholarhips. · LORAN Award (for university bound student’s): Visit "http://www.loranscholar.ca/apply" for details and the application form to be done online. Due date is Oct. 21, 2015 for school sponsored applicants (3 maximum) and Oct. 28, 2015 for direct pool applicants (unlimited number) to the address provided online. The award is not based soley on academics. While there is a minimum average to be considered ( 85 % ) based on your past three years of highschool, they are interested in well-rounded candidates who are active in both their communities and their school. ENSS can sponsor 3 applicants whereas other applicants not sponsored need apply through the direct pool process and alternate address provided. • .2015 University of Toronto National Scholarship Program: Application deadline is Nov. 6, 2015. These scholarships will be awarded to students who demonstrate superior academic performance, original and creative thought, and exceptional achievement in a broad context. The National Scholars will be those who not only excel in academic pursuits but also have an enthusiasm for intellectual exploration and an involvement in the life of their school and community. Each school is invited to choose one outstanding student on the basis of these criteria. Applications are available at "www.adm.utoronto.ca/ns" or further information may be obtained in Student Services.
- .QUEEN'S MAJOR ADMISSIONS AWARDS (deadline is Dec. 1, 2015): It is expected that applicants will have a cumulative average of 90 % or higher throughout highschool to be competitive for Major Admissions Awards. The Chancellor's requires a school nomination and ENSS may nominate 2 students who are applying to Queen's. The other major admissions awards are based on financial need and some involve place of residence. Students must apply for admission to Queen's through the Ontario Universities' Application centre (OUAC) prior to the Major Admission Awards application deadline of December 1, 2015. - Schulich Leader Scholarship: .All Canadian high schools may select one (1) nominee to represent their school. The following criteria must be followed: i) The candidate must be intending to enroll in a program at a minimum of one of the 20 participating Canadian universities in the STEM areas of study (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics); ii) Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada; iii) Each candidate must possess at least two of the following three attributes: a) academic excellence; b) outstanding community, business or entrepreneurial leadership; c) financial need (students who would be applying for financial assistance at university would meet this criterion. The process by which your school selects its Schulich Leader Nominee is entirely up to each school, as long as the student selected meets the criterion above. The Schulich Leader Nominee must then submit a separate online Schulich Leaders application that will be sent directly to the universities they have submitted official applications to.
